We finally made it out of the city to enjoy a bit of fresh air! For the 24th of July holiday we enjoyed spending a night in the tent at Maple Grove. The kids loved it and had been asking frequently to go camping.
When we arrived Monday--Kaylee was delighted to find a previous camper had left a tree swing near our campsite. Both she and Parker tried it out--in fact the first thing she said after waking up the next morning was "I want to swing!"

Tuesday morning (after swinging and breakfast) we enjoyed a bit of "hiking" around. It was more like a leisure walk along the creek (or in the creek if Parker and Kaylee's style suit you!), but it counted as a hike where Kaylee was concerned. The kids, overhearing some previous conversation about rattlesnakes were on the sharp lookout and a bit of snake fear kept them close to us and on the trail--a rare occurance to be sure! Thankfully no rattlesnakes were sighted but Dad did spot a small snake after Kaylee stepped on it (maybe her snake spotting eyes weren't as sharp as they could have been).

Brenna had no problem relaxing in the great outdoors. She sleeps just as well outdoors as at home!

We are so grateful for the beauty of the Earth!

Glad you had a fun time!
Looks fun! You guys are brave. I'm SO not a camper and have yet to try it with the kids. OK, once we rented a KOA cabin, does that count?
